Hotel overview

A welcoming 3-star resort offering informal, air-conditioned rooms set in a relaxed oceanside environment along the scenic Cabot Trail. This down-to-earth property features a swimming pool and hosts nightly bonfires on a private beach, creating a low-key, convivial atmosphere ideal for travelers seeking a casual retreat by the sea.

Located just a few kilometers from Ingonish Beach’s dining options and the Highlands Links Golf Course, guests can easily explore local attractions, including the expansive Cape Breton Highlands National Park known for its breathtaking mountain and ocean vistas. The on-site Thirsty Hiker Pub & Restaurant adds a convenient spot for casual meals and drinks, serving homemade fare in a friendly setting.

While some rooms feature kitchens and the resort welcomes pets and families, note that accessibility services and airport shuttles are not offered. Parking is free, and the peaceful beachfront location offers a distinct connection to nature, although the decor is dated and some rooms may be set uphill from parking areas, requiring a bit of a walk or stair climb. Overall, this resort suits those prioritizing location and a relaxed beach experience over modern luxury.

“The place is quaint, clean and a great location. The lady at check in was pleasant & helpful. The reason for 4 stars is we had a room that had a lot of stairs and it was in the back with no close parking. So we had to not only carry luggage upstairs we had to walk from the front parking around to a backdoor. There are other accommodations available & had we known we could have made other reservations.”

“I read the reviews and was hesitant as I’m a pretty picky hotel stayer… but I was not disappointed at all! The place is very cozy. Our beds were clean and comfortable. The room has all the amenities one would expect. The heat and air worked as expected. There were no smells. It is a little dated but for the area, it’s quite expected. What matters is that the staff was friendly, it was clean, very clean. Check in and check out was smooth. I would definitely recommend this place as a stop along the gorgeous Cabot trail! It’s close to restaurants and town. It is right on the beach. Don’t be scared of past reviews! I would say they’ve either made improvements or it wasn’t that bad!”

“We had a wonderful family stay at Glenghorm Beach Resort while skiing at Ski Cape Smokey. The deluxe ocean suite was spacious and perfect for our family with kids. We loved the beautiful ocean view right from the room and balcony. Angela at the front desk was very nice and responsive. We would definitely stay here again!”
